• Meter reading

When I moved from eon, I was on a day and night rate, so the first reading was easy.
ive just tried reading my meter now and there is not two rates but the app is asking me to supply a day and night rate...helppppp!

  • Hi revz.
Im a bit thick. How did you provide the 2 readings first time, im just wondering what has changed.
Were you reading the in home device or the actual meter outside. If its a smart meter then pressing the correct button will scroll through the required numbers.

  • Hi Jon
i was reading the meter outside. When I was still on eon and going through the process of changing, it gave the option of rate 1 and rate 2 on the meter. Since the change to PP, there is only one reading on the meter but the app is asking me to supply a reading for the day and night reading?
    cheers

  • hi Revz
Unless you asked e.on to change you to a single rate it should not have changed.
Is there a keypad on the meter? Is it a smart meter? Can you post a photo of the meter?
Try pressing the number 6 (more than once)- you may need to press 9 first and look at the display, it should say imp R01 and imp R02
PP obviously think it's E7 or they wouldn't be asking for 2 readings, but the database has to agree and sometimes it takes time to be updated- my point being that if e.on have changed you it may not be immediately obvious - but I'll bet they haven't unless you asked them to.
(AIso if your mpan starts with 02 you'll be on E7)

  • Hi Woz, not sure if the below will help. The only two readings it gives is the Rate 1 and total. It used to display two rates? I haven’t asked eon to change it?
Is it as simple as subtracting rate 1 from the total?

  • hi Revz
yes rate 02 is total minus rate 01.
If you know when night rate kicks in try reading it then and see if it says rate 2.
Also go back to your previous bills and check that you have the readings the right way around. Unless you use lots at cheap rate I’d expect the day reading to be higher than the night reading. Your previous readings should confirm the magnitude is as expected.

  • Hey @Revz

Just looking at the photos of your meter, what happens if you press the 'B' button in the bottom left? Does pressing that scroll through various options until you reach the rate 2 reading?

  • Not sure if this is any help, but as I have almost the same meter (it's an E470, but my 'B' button looks different) and am not on Economy 7:

My meter also has readings for
    'Total Acct Import'

    and
    'Rate 01 import'

That are different. Perhaps it is used for something else?

At least on my meter, pressing the 'B' Button should not be done.

You will get a message to 'release button' then it comes up with 'Passcode *********'

Unfortunately, I was not provided by instructions for the meter by either of the installation engineers who visited, or my supplier.

I contacted Landis & Gyr UK at the time, to see if it was possible to get a copy of the smart meter instructions, and the response I got once you cut through the waffle was 'not our problem, mate.'
