• smart meter

We have a smart Meyer fitted by another supplier (OVO) but this does not seem of any use now that we are with Pure planet.
Is this correct or can it report our usage?

    Hi
If you have a 1st generation smart meter from your previous supplier, it will not continue to be a smart meter when you move suppliers. You will have to submit your readings to PP every month.
PP are trialling 2nd gen smart meters atm, with a view to rolling out to all who want one at the end of the year.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Dave,

Angela is correct - it will no longer be automatically sending readings to the supplier and they cannot communicate with it remotely

That being said, however, the meter should still be locally wirelessly connected to the In Home Display (IHD) and should be displaying consumption. It may be showing you Ovo's old pricing and tariff but the consumption should be OK.

As Angela mentioned, PP will be rolling out SMETS2 shortly after their trial is ended and the industry are working on the platform to merge 1st generation meters into the central network so that they will become smart again.
