  • Good Morning folks,

It's a beaut day up here on Merseyside so we're taking the kids to the beach for a spot of fun and some litter picking. Anyway, I was looking around for various washing supplies and stumbled upon a washing up liquid ethical rankings report. I was rather suprised to see Ecover rather low down on the list.

I will be using this site more often to check out other products too.

  • On closer reading for the laundry soapnuts and the laundry starter packs, you will probably save a fair bit of money in the long term. They seem to last a long while and they can be used for hair washing and dish washing too. I'm sorely tempted.

  • How did the litter picking go @NannyOgg ? How much did you collect?

Was just writing in Let's Get Cooking about a soup I made to use up any food that was going off in my fridge and also linked to WRAP's Love Food Hate Waste website - thought it'd also be good to post it here!

It has loads of recipes on ways to use up leftovers and a 'compleat' challenge of cooking with the whole food item and not leaving anything unused
    The website is here -

  • Hi @Nataly.

We went to our woods instead. It was so windy we would have got blown into the Mersey and out into the North Sea. It was a good outing though. We collected two full carrier bags of rubbish. Quite shocking really.

I'll pop over and check that out, thanks Nataly.

You've inspired me... I have (or should I say, had) a nice, all white, cotton jacket. While out recently someone managed to spill either red wine or some sort of cider with blackcurrant mix (couldn't decipher which!) all down the back of it , and all attempts to remove failed as I didn't notice 'til the next day when it was too late... instead of getting rid, I'm going to buy some dark coloured dye (think a forest green) and give the old jacket new life

@NannyOgg shocking to hear you got 2 full bags of rubbish from your trip to the woods!!
Was it mostly plastics or things that could be recycled?

I also have a new link to a shop called Bear&Bear, and in particular their 'Less Plastic Lifestyle' shop
They're partnering with various suppliers and a not-for-profit called City to Sea - a really interesting one to look into!

  • @Nataly,

That was only over a short distance. There were some recyclables but most of it was non recyclable plastics. The amount of small pieces that could be ingested b the wildlife was just so horrible to see.
