Question

Is anyone else finding their posts formatting a bit 'odd'?

Hello all,

I’ve experienced this a few times today, and I’m just wondering if it’s only me.

When creating a post, it looks like this?

Lovely paragraphs.

Then I submit it, and it comes out like this:

All one lump, except oddly for the last two lines.

Is it just me getting this odd formatting?

I think you’re not alone Mark, are you posting on a mobile platform?

There are some awful spacing inconsistencies on here, and it seems, no way to control them

Also where has the quoted text gone?

I don’t always want a line between paras, and my knob has just fallen off due to over-use... (the scrolling knob)

I’m finding it all odd and have to say that I preferred the simpler easy on the eye format.

To much going on for my liking including grey text etc.

I know it sounds neg, but not motivated by faffing around and will give it more time when I’ve got time.

Just off to the Big Y

It’s honestly given me a headache both yesterday and today Strutty, I will say that,  due to smaller font and light grey, but am hoping they won’t continue 🤕as we get more used to it. I really do like it a lot, I think any change takes some getting used to, and already adjusted since yesterday when it all seemed soooo daunting 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Well that was interesting, what you see is certainly not what you get, auto spacing is changing how it’s displayed. It would seem that the posted intended characters per line do not equal the final product seen when posted, is this a user setting or a browser issue?

Or is this a yellow, cyan, green, magenta, or red herring?

Hey @Gwyndy @woz

Just to say the space formatting should be altered now! It seems there were a few little bugs left from the Community migration.

Also worth noting the line breaks work differently to the previous forum - tapping enter just once is effectively a new paragraph.
If you want a smaller new line break (like this :arrow_left: ) you can use shift + enter.

Hope that helps

that’s great nat, any possibility of having the characters per line match the post or is this a dynamic spacing issue?

if I post as below screenshot  in a maximised window, what I see when I’ve posted is not wot i rote...

Positioning issue when posting images isn’t ideal, the image no matter how small, always ends up in it’s own frame centralised on a new line

On the old platform you could post the image more or less as part of the text line.

Hey @woz

Thanks for flagging this - we’ve identified it as being caused by the text size in the text editor box being smaller than the text size once posted. That means the formatting/ number of words per line is slightly different once you hit ‘send’!

So far we’ve been unable to change the text sizing to make it the same - we’re still looking into it though

It’s certainly different on the new platform!

Can absolutely see the benefits of being able to change image size/ positioning - this is something that’s been raised with the platform’s tech team, and is currently under consideration with them. We’ll let you know as this progresses!
