Don’t let your family and friends get stung with another Big 6 price rise
In 11 days’ time 11 millions UK households will be hit with a massive price rise as the Big 6 energy companies put their rates up.
We’re calling it #AprilFuelsDay as it falls on 1 April.
British Gas, EDF, EON, npower, Scottish Power, and SSE are all putting up their prices by between £117 and £119 for those on standard variable tariffs to the limit of Ofgem’s new price cap - to £1,254.
Our price by comparison is £985 for a medium user* - that’s £269 less.
Which is why we’re urging Members to save their friends and family from being stung. Help us grow the number of homes being powered by renewables. And pocket £25 in Amazon vouchers as bonus for each person you refer. :o
Just tap on the ‘Refer friends get £25’ moon on your app’s homepage.
We’ve launched a April Fuel campaign to urge people who are still with a Big 6 energy company to switch away now.
A price cap of £1,136 per year (for average medium users) was introduced by Ofgem last year to protect consumers from being over-charged.
The Big 6 claimed the cap was too low. British Gas even threatened legal action. A few weeks later Ofgem raised the cap effective from 1 April.
Surprise surprise! All of Big 6 announced they would increase their prices to £1,254 on 1 April - which is maximum for a typical dual fuel household under the higher cap.
We’re also looking for Pure Planet Members who’ve made savings of up to £300 a year by switching to us to help spread the word. If you’re up for chatting to our lovely marketing team about your PP savings and experience send me a DM anytime. Thanks! :raisinghands:
**Based on annual cost of Ofgem national average medium user of 3,100 kWh of electricity and 12,000 kWh of gas paying by direct debit. £1,254 price cap takes effect 1 April 2019 for a medium user, dual fuel profile on a standard variable tariff paying by direct debit.
