A switch normally takes up to 6 weeks to complete, as all the details have to go through a 3rd party verifier.
Once the switch has completed, PP will issue your final bill, and if your in credit they will refund you. (Or if you owe them, they'll take a final payment)via your DD.
Don't cancel your DD, because they won't be able to refund you then.

if you’ve cancelled the direct debit (which is not a good idea as it causes work for you) then you’ll need to arrange a one-off payment:-
