Whatever takes your fancy poetry wise..
There was an inventor named Peter
Who invented a measuring meter
He can now check how far
it is to the car
as his meter now measures a metre
you know who you are....
I shall get my coat...
A thoughtful old lady named Janet
lived in a cold house made of granite
not much did she eat
or centrally heat
when asked why said I'm saving the planet.

when asked why said I'm saving the planet.
I once had a glass of wine
Before that I was feeling fine
I joined a thread whilst off my head
And now I'm doing time!
Coats on and scarpered

Bit lame, but best I could do on a very very very windy Saturday afternoon.............
There once was a storm we called Dennis, 🤪
Who arrived truly fierce, such a menace! 😡👎🌪💨
He forced plants out their beds 🛌🌪🌿🌾
And blew wigs off men’s heads 🙆*♂️
Lets look forward to summer ☀️👙😎 and tennis 🎾!
Not lame at all Bev, really nice and luckily I left my wig in the draw.

Several special poems I have carried with me since teenage times; including in this month of rememberance 'Dulce decorum est' by Wilfred Owen and 'Ode to Autumn' by John Keats very special images of a time of harvest.

Did you see the latest poet laureate Simon Armitage (appointed a few months ago, to be laureate until 2029) has released his first poem under his new role?
no pressure then...
You can read Conquistadors here :)
Do you think he's passed the first test?

I started penning poems in 2012, slowly petering off over the years; now only on occasion as the mood strikes. Hence the name of my poetry blog Inspired Verse. Here (not energy related): one of the three limerick's I've ever written; and, now timely, a 2012 tribute to Turing on his centenary.
Gawain limerick
There was a young knight dubbed Gawain
Who refused to come out of the rain.
Wailed Mom, “You’ll catch cold!”,
Charged he, “But I’m bold!”
Yet rust in one’s suit is a pain.

Turing Centenary
Today we honour Alan Turing
a man whose activities during
the Second World War out at Bletchley
are forever in our minds etched; he
and his mates cracked the Enigma.
Still, he had to live with the stigma
of his gayness not being acceptable
yet he found it all delectable.
Despite what the history books say
that his tragedy was to be gay
we now hear his end may have been
a mishap, to much our chagrin.
But let’s not dwell on bereavements
and focus on his achievements.
Was he the ‘Father of Computing’?
Others, too, but I’m not disputing.

Nice post
Liking your blog too. Keep it up! 🙂
Just made this up in my head whilst taking a . Grabbed towel and note book, and quickly jotted it down. Here it is............
The minutes turn into hours,
The hours then soon become days.
and before you even realise,
the weeks go by in a haze.
The world is passing by us,
We’re all in our own little bubbles,
caught up in this speeding rat race
A world full of worry and troubles.
But take a step back for one moment.
Just stop to enjoy the sound,
Stand still, just look, and just listen,
The skies, the trees, the ground.
Each day we must just take a minute,
in between any worry or strife,
to appreciate all the worlds beauties,
Just the simple things in life.
Lovely! (really!)
I'm envious that you could remember the first bit when you got to the end but that's a different thread.
(You should have used a pen, it's very hard to write on a towel with a notebook...:))

Hee hee that’s a goodun, Marc 😂😂😂👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Yeah mine were mainly longer ones, rather than little limericks, and sadly all handwritten 🗃🖋in a file, nothing electronically, as all from my child / teenage years. Kept them years, think it was only last year that decided to shred. Typical, as soon as shredded, you wish you’d kept🙄.
I recall one in a competition and a publisher writing to suggest publishing it, but I was only young, and think quite a cost, so didn’t in the end. Used to write lots, then just stopped.
I recall that little thread you did on here tho Marc, re poetry day and that was the first little ditty I’d done in years 👍

There was a young man named White
Whose speed was much faster than light.
He set out one day,
In a relative way,
And returned on the previous night.
I'm sure you could remember some of yours@Bev 😉
