April didn’t go outside very much.

April was social distancing, ordered a facemask from the internet, and clapped on the doorstep for the NHS every Thursday.

Yes, Covid-19 has changed everyone’s lives. April was a strange month. Here at Pure Planet we’re supporting our Members and we really hope you’re all staying safe.

If you’re affected by the pandemic check out this post which explains how to contact our team.

We’ve also been sharing tips on what to during the lockdown started by @NannyOgg, with some great suggestions from community members including @Bev @David j @stephenrand @Strutt G @Scubaseahorse @Duppy @woz @Kniterella

The NHS staff on the frontline of Covid-19 are getting a salute from @Strutt G and @Bev while @25 quid spotted some Pure Planet-branded flowers while out on his daily walk.

Thinking about a time pre-lockdown @G4RHL started a great discussion about what will be the first thing we’ll all do when the lockdown is over, and life starts to return to normal.

‘Lockdown’ was the theme of the April photo challenge, which was jointly won by @Scubaseahorse and @MrSmart. The May photo challenge chosen by @Scubaseahorse is shadows and reflections.

Elsewhere, @Strutt G wants to know if anyone else dreams in colour, and also reveals how he once met Heather Mills@Duppy is wondering what to do with his garden waste, and somehow we managed to celebrate Easter - which already feels like a long time ago.

Our community member in the spotlight in April was @G4RHL - find out about his fantastic volunteering roles and his top tips for cutting carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, @woz started a wonderful new community thread to post word riddles which other Members seem to have had varying degrees of success in solving.

Last month the big news from Pure Planet is that we’re dropping our prices. The new rates for electricity and gas take effect from 1 May. And we also turned three years old!

April was also the month we started our EVs pilot here in the community. Despite Covid-19 many of us are still needing to drive. So we’re getting some great data and feedback from pilot members about the kinds of products and services we can offer in the future.

If hybrid cars are more your thing, check out this review of a Hyundai Kona by @MrSmart

Speak of smart, we’ve now stopped sending meter reading reminders to Members with smart meters, as we’re now getting your smart readings, yay! 😊

Elsewhere at PP’s virtual HQ we’re making progress with our migration to the new community platform.

A massive thanks to Members who’ve been helping us with great feedback and ideas for the new community, especially on background imagery and other features such as members’ badges and levels.

We’re on track for a switch to the new platform in June, but there’ll be lots more progress updates between now and then.

If anyone has good tips on broadband providers, @Gwndy is looking for recommendations, Pure Planet team member @Al O needs some advice on replacing his gas boiler with an electric one, and @Suepal is also looking for boiler advice.

Finally, a shout out to @25 quid for a top idea that we had key phrases we can ask WattBot to our FAQs section. We've got an Ideas Board here in the community where all Members can suggest improvements to Pure Planet’s service. It’s invite-only so just drop me or Nataly a private message any time and we’ll tempt you to come aboard.

Looking ahead to May

Our price cut has come into effect.

We’re also planning to announce some more news this month. Our collective lips are sealed for now, but stay tuned….

Some Members have been asking for an update on how we offset your CO2 emissions, and we’re working on a new blog post all about that.

Pure Planet Community points for April 2020

Each month we say thanks to those who contribute to our community by asking and answering questions and participating in discussions on all things related to Pure Planet and renewable energy, and just generally keeping the community safe and fun.

Here's a link to how the Pure Planet community points work which includes how much points are worth, guidance on how to earn points (without giving away our top secret formula!) and when you’ll be able to redeem your points.

So a big thank you to all of you wonderful members who have contributed. And please stay safe and well.
