smart meter

I recently joined Pure. I already had a smart meter installed by my previous supplier. Correspondence from Pure asks for my meter readings. How do I get Pure to accept that I have a smart meter?

Hi
You're talking to fellow PP customers on this forum, and as such we don't have access to customers accounts. But we will help if we can.

If you have smart meters from a previous supplier link/smets1 upgrade:https://community.purepla.net/smart-meters-and-ihds-33/if-i-switch-supplier-will-my-smart-meter-work-10329

It will depend if your meter is a version 1 or version 2.

I had one a few years ago from British gas, then it half worked when I moved 1st time, then stopped working 3rd time on wards.

so it sounds like you may of had version 1 installed by previous supplier, but once PP get around to installing theirs, it will be a version 2 and compatible with any supplier.

Until then, just read the numbers from smart meter in elec / gas cabinet outside.

Hope that helps.

hi Bruce

it’s not a case of PP knowing whether your meter is smart and accepting that. As said above, if it’s a smets2 it may start sending readings. If it was installed not long ago it may well be a 2.

It’s prudent though to check the meter serials on the front of the meter (against what PP say they are) to make sure PP have the correct meter.

PP won’t be replacing smets1 meters they will be updated when the software is available (less landfill!).

If you need help reading it post back. Don’t read the ihd (some people think that’s the meter) read the actual meter on the wall.

Obvious your Meters may look different, and your readings will be different also:

But Inside the electric box on the wall outside mine it looks like this

The gas meter looks completely different, on my one I have to press red button, then sometimes black button after it to get numbers to show up.

So open up electric cupboard, take snapshot with phone showing readings, then send them in.

On gas meter its always the first 5 numbers starting with the 0.
