Yo WCS,

When you move and move in you inherit the energy provider attached to that property. Once in then you can trigger the switch as you are in control...otherwise all switches would become very complicated. Thats of course if I’m reading your message correctly...

Sorry in advance if you know this, always take pictures and record meter reads when leaving a property. Do the same when arriving into a new property and at all times when you switch.

Anything else…keep posting?

just to add you shouldn’t start a switch until you become responsible for the property (of course that could be before you move in). If you do it before you’re responsible lots of things can go wrong for example the current owner could block it, or what if the taking ownership date is delayed for some reason. Best to wait as whatever you do you’ll more than likely have to pay the old provider for some days , it will make little difference to the overall picture if it’s 3 days or 17 days (or whatever).
