I clicked on the link to confirm my email address and it initially cane up with a summary of my plan. After I had printed off the plan I couldn’t login - it just went round in circles so I’m not sure now if I have managed to switch Kate

If you didn’t get as far as verifying your email the switch won’t happen, but it isn’t clear from your post whether that’s the case. What happens if you click the verification mail again? Is it asking you to log in?
As far as login goes sometimes the verification emails can get out of step so delete ALL of the login mails (only the login mails don’t delete any of the others) and now try logging in, you’ll get ONE email, if that doesn’t work post back for more help.
