You cannot actually delay the switch.
It takes 17 days to switch.
The only thing you can do is cancel your switch and start again at a later date. . When you do your new switch you will have to do it 17 days before you want the switch to happen.
If that makes sense.

if you signed up for your switch after 19th October, then you would be within 49 days of your contract end date.

Why do you need to delay your switch date. If it's because you are still in contract with your present supplier, you can switch within 49 days of your contract end date without penalty

Why do you want to delay it? (and I presume you mean the switch date?)
I'm probably confused but tied into current plan until 6 December (luckily out of the penalty zone).
