Your new smart meters will replace your old meters, which will be taken away. The engineer will also leave a In-Home Display for you - this is the screen which you use to monitor energy usage and readings.
You can put the IHD wherever you want as long as it’s within range of about 20 metres (65 feet) of your new smart electricity meter.
During the installation, which is carried out by our partners Magnum Utilities, your gas and electricity meters will both be turned off for about 30 minutes each.
Members who have medical equipment in their home should talk to us at the appointment booking stage about finding an alternative source of power during the installation.
