SMICoP is a set of rules and standards when installing a new smart meter.
If you’re getting a new smart meter, the code means we must make sure you get all the information you need. Before the engineer leaves, they'll run through everything with you, showing you how to use your new smart meter and In-Home Display.
The rules and guidelines in the SMICoP have been set by Ofgem, the Government department tasked with regulating all UK gas and electricity providers.
The code covers: Ensuring that our installers are trained to the highest standards, showing you how to use your smart equipment, communicating all the info you'll need, supporting Members who are vulnerable, helping you use your smart meter and IHD to become more energy efficient and reduce your energy usage, acting quickly if something goes wrong.
