How to flag posts or report profanity in the Pure Planet Community

The Community is a place to post questions, support each other, get involved and share views about Pure Planet, renewable energy, sustainability and environment issues, or anything else you want.

So we all get the most out of the community, and enjoy being part of it, the most important thing is that we treat all other members as we like to be treated. See the Pure Planet Community guidelines for more info on that.

Put simply that means: show respect, have patience, be helpful and stay friendly, even if you completely disagree with someone.

We've all got our views and we're all entitled to them, as long as we respect each other.

But if you spot a post which you think may break these guidelines, you can flag it up for the community managers to take a look. For example, swearing or aggressive behaviour. Or, if someone posts something which contains confidential info.

How do I flag posts which I believe may be breaking the community guidelines?

Next to every post and reply there are three pink dots. Tapping or clicking on these dots will reveal more options, including ‘flag post’.

Only Members who are logged in to the community will see the ‘flag post’ option.

If you tap/click on ‘flag post’ you’ll see a new page, with a short space where you can type in your reasons for flagging it. It looks like this:

Good to see this marc. As the size of the community grows then i suppose it's inevitable that the odd post by a confused, frustrated or even irate member will post something they proberly dont mean.

I'm a member on a couple of fora which have 'community moderators'. They have access privileges enabling them to delete posts, lock threads and give members a few days in the cooler (but not outright bans).
I don't know if this forum software supports something similar, but it might be worth looking into.

Hey @Oakbank
Yep, that's something we're keen to do in this community too. The software does support it.
I was planning to ask some Members in the New Year if they were up for it.
Are you volunteering?!! 😉

What, and make myself a target for abuse? 🤓

Duly noted. Good tool to keep the community safe 😉

It does work well @Gabolino. If you tap/click on 'report post' it'll send an email to several PP staff. So if I happen to be sipping drinks in a hammock on a sun-dappled beach at the time..... Someone else can take a look at it ;)
Though thankfully we don't get much. The few we do it's because someone's included some personal info in their post, like their email address or phone number.

C'mon Marc, we need a way to contact you while at the beach... can we add a "contact Marc wherever he's at" button?

Like the Batman eclipse light 🆒
Even superheroes need holidays @Gabolino ;)
And Batman was never my favourite. I feel a new thread coming!

I can feel a whole new thread coming on...
MUST A SUPERHERO HAVE SUPER POWERS TO BE CALLED A SUPERHERO.
I don't know but Iron man just doesn't cut the mustard...
(well it certainly beats Brexit as far as discussion goes)

I agree, not a real super hero, but don’t make me angry, you won’t like me when I’m angry...

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man.
It is a dimension as vast as space and timeless as infinity.

You’ve spoilt it now with the C word. Is treason still a hangable offence? (not you)

On the original topic of reporting dodgy posts......why is the icon for this under the Users details section?

If it relates only to 1 post and not the user as a whole, would it not be better to be located on the actual post itself? Possible midway between Reply and Thumbs Up?

hi jenam
it is on each post, if you look in landscape if on phone) go down from the name on lhs there’s a list of stuff given and received etc and under that is a little triangle on each post.

Hey @Jenam93
You can report both. For the profile it's there for, say, impersonation, or if someone has eluded the profanity filter and created a username with an offensive word in it. Or if the user is trolling or abusing others. (Though I've got to say that this is a very safe and positive community that anyone being rude or overly negative either leaves or is 'turned' by other members! :foldedhands:)

The icon also appears next to posts, if you only need to report one post. Say if someone's added some personal info which you think might be a bit too confidential for a public forum.
On desktop the report icon is, as @woz says, under the thumbs up received/given count.
On mobile the report icon is on the right.
