Hi, I have just bought an old cottage as my first home. My gas and electricity metres do not show the metre readings. Do I need to replace them? Who do I speak to? Thank you

Hi, I have just purchased an old property. The gas meter and electricity metre have a screen but nothing for meters shows. I think they’re completely outdated so I am unable to provide readings. What do I do?

Hi

Do they not have to be 'woken up'.  Normally you just have to press one of the buttons until the display comes on. See this link:

Or

Or, if broken meters:

Hi @MaxineB
Have you tried pressing the buttons on the meters to wake the screens up? It’s normally ‘A,’ ’0,’ or ‘9’ but could differ depending on manufacturer and model.

Hey @MaxineB

Congratulations on your first home! How exciting! :grinning:

You should absolutely be able to see the readings for your meters - has the advice in the links @Angelabikerbabe provided helped? Let us know
